Tabs News...
Welcome to the July edition of the Tabs FM newsletter.
In a month in which our new government has announced Public Sector spending cuts of up to 40%, Tabs Systems will be in even greater demand.
Many of our clients are in the Public Sector and already benefitting from the efficiencies of an integrated Facilities solution; time saving, paper trail reduction, performance management, space management, enhanced customer service and staff morale and, of course the cost advantages of structured Planned Preventative Maintenance.
A high percentage of organisations researching Tabs Systems have employed disparate systems over a number of years and require a streamlined system to advance and grow. They need consistency and a structured process to manage their premises and resources.
Naturally, there are costs associated with the implementation of a new Software Solution, both financial and internal project man hours. From our experience and client feedback, the return on investment in a Tabs System is experienced in a fairly short time frame.
It is also our policy to continually develop our product in order to support client growth and change.
Onwards and upwards.
Tabs FM Blog Update - Intranet Security
We all have a corporate responsibility to protect customer, client or colleague data. When faced with threats of hefty fines, the correct handling of data has never been more important. Coupled with an increased risk of data attack and penetration through web-based CAFM solutions, correct security measures should be in place to safeguard data.

Taking pro-active steps towards the protection of information, Tabs FM have introduced enhanced security measures which are applicable to their Internet enabled CAFM interface. First on the agenda is password encryption using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cipher algorithm, with a 256 bit key length AES (RIJNDAEL) encryption that is applied to all Internet user logins. Additional rules can be applied to user passwords to enforce Password Length, Upper/Lower Case, Numeric or Special Character polices. Password expiration dates can be allocated to ensure passwords are renewed to prevent potential security loop-holes.

Intranet Development
It's been a busy month for our Intranet developers, who have introduced a few new features as requested by our clients, including the above Internet Security feature.
Repeat Room Bookings
First on the list is a new Repeat Room Bookings facility to quickly create multiple room booking using our powerful web based tool. The system works in exactly the same way as Intranet repeat requests. Also embedded within this new development is the ability to authorise/restrict certain users from perform this process via the web.
Reactive Maintenance Attachments
As part of Reactive Maintenance request system, our development team has introduced the ability upload supporting documents for new requests. These documents are embedded directly into the SQL database and retrievable via the administration system. Associated documents do not rely on mapped network drives, supporting standardisation across the Tabs application.
Works Diary
To further enhance the security process on the intranet system, we have applied restrictions to prevent workers or contractors viewing maintenance tasks which have not been assigned to them.
